We are excited to announce that Chancy and Bruce, Inc. headquarters will be relocated to San Clemente, CA, under the guidance of Dr. Nicky Magnuson, with the blessing of Bonnie Bruce. In addition to keeping and utilizing some of the same amazing screening staff!
Chancy and Bruce, Inc. has a 40-year legacy in Southern California, has tested over hundred’s of thousands of students, and has partnered with educators and parents to confidently assess students’ ability to cope, learn and succeed without undue stress at all levels. This incredible service will continue to be offered for decades to come!
Dr. Nicky Magnuson has 25 years of educational experience as an educator and administrator. She is passionate about supporting families and students in their academic journey and is honored to help continue the Chancy and Bruce legacy in this new season.
As you know, we live in an ever-changing world, but a child’s development and growth will always be unique to that child. At Chancy and Bruce, Inc., we will continue to honor each child’s unique developmental process and are dedicated to preserving the processes, procedures, protocol, and assessment mechanisms that Bonnie Bruce and her team originally developed. We will digitize some of these processes, but the foundation and heart will continue.
As a legacy partner, we want to ensure your students and families are enrolled in this year’s upcoming assessment window. You will receive an email with calendar openings for the 23/24 screening times by March to secure your spots for the upcoming year.

Dr. Nicky Magnuson is thrilled to help continue the Chancy and Bruce Legacy! Her passion for learning and children's development is evident in her 25+ year tenure as an educator. She holds a Doctorate degree in Education and Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University and has completed her undergraduate work in Psychology and Social Behavior at the University of California Irvine. Dr. Magnuson has an extensive background in both public and private education serving as an administrator, and teacher, as well as on many leadership committees, and served on multiple boards and trusteeship of private schools.
As the leader of Chancy and Bruce, her foremost priority is to support schools and families in the decision-making process for their children's educational timeline and journey. She is honored to be a part of the Chancy and Bruce team and excited to watch it continue to grow and be impactful…
Bonnie Bruce
Founder of Chancy and Bruce and previous Executive Director
Bonnie holds a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from West Virginia Wesleyan College. She holds an MEd. in Special Education from Middle Tennessee State University and has done post-graduate studies in testing and assessment. Barbara Chancy, who was instrumental in developing and field-testing this assessment tool, passed away in November 2003. Before 1982, Ms. Bruce, and Ms. Chancy taught at all grade levels and served as Resource Specialists in the Public School System in California. Ms. Bruce also directed an Institute for Child Development and has worked with school districts in developing early childhood intervention programs.
Chancy and Bruce Educational Resources, Inc. was founded in the early 1980s as a unique service to children, parents, teachers, and schools in assessing children using a developmental profile.
